An annual grants presentation evening held on Wednesday 21st July saw Stone Parish Council award funds totalling £1000 to local groups and organisations.
The money will see five local uniformed groups benefit from up to £200 each to assist with costs of summer camps and purchase of equipment, while Stone’s sequence dance group and the Gravesend and Dartford Friendship Centre will be treated to guest speakers and a Christmas lunch.
Representatives from each organisation turned out to receive cheques from council Chairman Thurza Richards.
Councillor Thurza Richards said,
“The council feels very strongly about supporting vital local organisations and is pleased to be able to contribute towards the groups’ good work.
The community rely on organisations such as these for social and recreational needs and the council is committed to ensuring that there is a good choice for everyone.”
Sue Ingram, Beaver Cub leader at the Brent 6th Dartford Winnipeg Beavers said,
“This grant enables the Winnipeg Beavers to provide activities for our young people. We watch our Beavers grow from strength to strength, move on through Cubs and Scouts into young balanced adults. It makes us proud we were part of that journey and we thank the council for helping us to continue this work.”
