Footpath clean-up

FLY-TIP INCREASE IN COTTON LANE

The council has become increasingly concerned about the frequency of fly-tipping in Cotton Lane and members met in February to discuss how to tackle the problem.

An Enforcement Officer from Dartford Borough Council attended the meeting to discuss strategies and confirmed that, since the New Year, twelve individual fly-tips have been removed from Cotton Lane by the Borough Council’s clean team.

It was recognised that the lane suffers particularly badly due to lack of overlook from residential properties and poor lighting.

The council agreed that it will consider all options to tackle the problem but that it also relies on the assistance of local residents and motorists who witness fly-tipping occurring to report it in a bid to successfully prosecute offenders.

If you see anyone dumping rubbish, please telephone the Police, who will attend if possible. Try to obtain:

  • a good description of persons responsible

  • the Registration Number(s) of vehicle(s) concerned

  • the make and model of vehicle (if possible)

  • You can also report a fly-tip to the Enforcement Team at Dartford Borough Council on 01322 343434
