Council Structure

The parish council has a chair and vice-chair elected by council members at the Annual Meeting of the Council, usually in May.

At the same meeting, members will also elect candidates to serve on the various council committees.

Committees of the Council

Following a recent restructure to streamline council decision-making, the Council now has three committees: Planning, Environment & Transport; Pavilion Project; and Stone Fete.

The members of a committee change annually at the Annual Meeting of the Council in May.

Planning, Environment & Transport

The Planning, Environment & Transport committee meets monthly (except August) to discuss new or revised planning applications received by Dartford Borough Council that affect the parish of Stone.

The committee will review each planning application to consider its effect on the parish. The council's observations are submitted to the Planning Authority to refer to when deciding an application.

Although the Parish Council are unable to make the final decision on the application, the Council does carry a certain amount of influence as a local body and has been successful when objecting to some controversial applications.

The Committee also consider items relating to highways, the environment, licensing and local transport matters.

Pavilion Project

This Committee exists to oversee the development of a new pavilion at the recreation ground and any associated matters.

Stone Fete

The Fete Committee oversees arrangements for the annual event and ensures that the event aligns itself with council objectives.
